Product Description

The First Afghan war of 1839-42 saw a number of medals issued for various battles.
This medal featured four different reverses commemorating battles in Cabul, Candahar, and, Ghuznee with combinations of the three battles.
This version is for the action in Cabul (today spelt Kabul) which was reached and taken by the British on 15th September 1842. Some 12,741 medals were award of which 3,500 were to Europeans.
This medal features the original steel clip and straight bar suspension.
